Curriculum - What Do We Teach?
We believe that children learn through play and experiences. Students participate in hands on learning daily. Our teachers encourage creativity and imagination and our goal is to provide a fun learning environment to every student.

In our Infant class, your child will be developing emotional and physical attributes. He will be surrounded by love and soothing sounds. He will be provided nap time, fed his meal promptly and enjoy tummy time and making friends.

Our toddlers enjoy a fun filled day with their classmates learning their colors and shapes as they are developing their vocabulary and repeating everything! Their teacher is patient and provides new experiences for them daily.

There is always fun learning going on in our 2 and 3 year old classrooms. They are further developing their cognitive learning skills, their emotional and physical development is so important and they are developing the skills that will make them successful in life! And potty training is a big step! Their teacher will introduce new concepts often and by the end of the year you will be amazed how much they have learned and how much they have grown!

Our Pre-K students will spend their day learning and it will be so much fun! The teacher's goal is to prepare these little ones for Kindergarten. She further develops their knowledge of the alphabet, colors, shapes and numbers and introduces writing and math skills.

Each teacher uses a curriculum that is based on proven methods of learning. Each week, the students will learn about a new topic such as zoo animals, weather, manners or art appreciation. There will also be a letter, number, shape and color focus. The goal of each teacher is to help your child reach those very important milestones.

In the afternoons, your school age child will be picked up from school. After arriving at PLA they will enjoy a snack before beginning their homework. Each student will be provided the opportunity to complete their homework, to ask questions and receive help as needed. After homework time, the students will be able to play on the playground, play board games or educational games inside and work in teams or with a partner to build or create projects.
What Do We Do All Day?
Kids are naturally very active. At Prattville Learning Academy we keep them busy so they can get the most out of their day. A typical day would go something like this:
Arrive and sign in
Eat breakfast/free time
Circle time
Outside play
Get ready for lunch/free time
Lunch
Nap time
Snack
Circle time
Outside play
Inside free play
Pick-up time and sign out

Of course this typical day does not apply to infants (who are allowed to set their own schedules) and school-agers.
